I'm making good progress on my office/studio. We pulled up the red shag carpet and found these floors. Unfortunately it was painted ick-brown around the edges. The only thing I can think of is that they painted the edge of the room and then put a rug down.
I was going to paint the floor, and even bought the paint, but my sister begged me to let her try to strip it first. She asked for homemade pizza in lieu of payment. The stripping went unbelievably fast. Look at those floors!
The door-turned-table is a luscious pear color. My mouth literally watered as I painted it. Of course, I was super hungry, so maybe that has something to do with it.
I wanted the walls to be robin's egg blue. The color name is actually Jamaica Bay. More than one person has said it is Tiffany-box blue. What do you think?
I thought the room would be an explosion of girly pastels (since I have a bucket of pink I am going to use on some pegboard and some other things) but as I hoped, the dark floor makes the entire space very grown up.
Left to do: paint the trim, order & assemble the bookcase, paint the closets, replace the windows. We will have finished product at the end of this week, and I want to have this space workable by then. I love it so far. I got a lot of raised-eyebrow comments while I was buying paint, but the results prove that I should always follow my instincts and not listen to naysayers.
