Every year I'm asked for holiday diapers. They are great for photos (think of the greeting cards you could send!) and just look so stinking cute during the whole holiday season. What better way to show off your little one and their cute fluffy bum than with a scrumptious stack of exclusive boutique diapers?

This year, goodmama is offering two holiday Sets, Merry & Bright in a Christmas theme and Festival of Lights in a Hanukkah theme. We hunt high and low for the fabric for these Sets, and pack them with designer, rare and the cutest fabrics we can find.

Creatures Great & Small Packs

I don't know if you know this about me, but I love fabric. I have loved fabric ever since I was a little girl. My mom saved a Christmas list I made when I was five years old, and on my list? Fabric.

I was a terrible nap taker, and instead of napping I always found a project to do. I remember in the absence of fabric I made clothes for my dolls out of paper. My mom was so excited when she saw what I had done, she took my paper clothes apart and used them as a pattern and made the same dress for my doll out of fabric. I think that was an important moment for me because I realized, I can do this!

Ever since then, I have still loved and collected fabric. Putting these diaper packs together has been so fun because I get to search high and low for the best, cutest, most rare fabrics. I really think you will like this next pack too. We are calling them Creatures Great & Small and we are making just a few of them -- six in organic bamboo velour and six in coordinating cotton velour.

These are designer fabrics, all but one Japanese imports, and all of them completely and absolutely wonderful. Ships in ~4 weeks. Our Storybook sets were sold less than three weeks ago and are almost finished and shipping to us soon, and the Music sets are not far behind.

I think music is such a part of all of our lives, whether we play it or just enjoy it, it comes from and speaks to something deep inside us.

Goodmama Woven Diaper Customs List!

The woven customs we sold a few weeks ago have started to come in, and they are absolutely beautiful! We are so thrilled with the great fabrics and beautiful combinations!

Originally I had planned to send each customs customer one diaper per type of fabric sent. However things have worked out so well, and some of the really beautiful fabrics have ended up to be so expensive, I've decided that to send out two diapers per five yards of fabric received.

Many of you have more than one baby in diapers, or have family or friends you would like to share with, or just want two to have and love. I know I had a favorite diaper that I made sure I had two of so I always had the option to use that print! Crazy or awesome? I say awesome. 

And now for the best news of all! Things have gone so smoothly and we have enjoyed working with you so much, we are starting a woven diaper customs list!

THE GOODMAMA WOVEN DIAPER CUSTOMS LIST!

1. Email customs@thegoodmama.com to get placed on the list. There is no charge for joining the list.

2. When it is your turn send in 5 yards each of 5 different high-quality fabrics after they have been approved by goodmama production for diaper-making suitability.

3. You will work with Jessica, my very organized production manager, to choose snaps, serging and velour for your diaper.

4. You will receive 2 diapers from each fabric, and the rest will be used by goodmama to make diapers to stock in the store and share the love with others.

Some things to know:

1. The custom list will be displayed on our website with your first name and the first initial of your last name so you can see how close you are and how the list is progressing.

2. We will work in these custom orders in between other goodmama projects, and while we plan on working through the list at a good pace, we make no guarantees about when your turn will come available.

3. You may opt off the list at any time. All requests to be added to the list start at the bottom.

4. We usually cannot use fabric with trademarked logos or characters. Not only is this fabric not usually available to us for production, often the quality of such fabrics is not up to diaper-making standards. Diapers must endure rigorous washing and wear and as such, all materials used to make them need to be the highest quality.

5. We will use high-quality directional prints, but would need 6 yards of such fabrics rather than the usual 5.

6. While we will work hard with you to make the diapers of your dreams, goodmama reserves the right to decline to use any fabrics, or thread, velour and snap combinations that are unsuitable. This includes previously-used or lower quality fabrics, not-matching combinations, or any other reason.

Please remember that monitors are not reliable for deciding whether or not thread/snaps/velour combinations match one another. We will not put anything into production without first sitting down with actual samples of all elements to make sure everything matches.

7. You can share your customs slot with your friends, but we will only work with you, the customs customer on the list. This ensures we stay organized and everything runs smoothly with no confusion.

We have a lot of awesome things in stock at goodmama right now, but one thing we don't have that you have asked for are woven turned fitteds. I must confess, when I was cloth diapering Hazel, most of my fitted stash consisted of woven turned fitteds and I loved them!

Woven turned fitteds have many advantages: they wear like iron, the colors stay vibrant longer, and there are more fabric choices! The one disadvantage is that because the fabric is woven, it is not as stretchy, so the diapers fit a little trimmer. It's a decent trade off, especially if your baby is a typical size.

I know you like new things and I know you like choices, so I'm going to try something new. Going up this week on Hyena Cart we are putting up five slots to pick and make your own custom turned fitteds! Two of these will be by lottery and three we will put up at staggered times for you to Buy Now.

Here's how it will work: First, if you end up winning more than one slot, you only get to keep one. I know, I know, but we need this to be fair, right?

If you are the winner of said lucky slot, you will work with us to pick five different woven fabrics to make the diapers of your dreams. We will work with you to help you pick snaps, serging, fabrics, everything! All of these diapers will be turned, the serging is on the soaker inside.

You will buy five yards each of these five fabrics and send them to us. We, in turn, will make you a diaper out of each of the fabrics, and stock the remaining handful in the store to spread the love a little bit. You will not have the option to buy more, you only get one of each, though of course you are welcome to buy them through the store when they stock.

Turnaround will be around 4-6 weeks, truly the time will depend on how long it takes for you to choose and ship your fabric. We have gotten pretty efficient around here and I am confident we will deliver your beautiful squishies in a super-timely manner.

Before receiving our good.night, I was wary about using cloth overnight with our newborn daughter (now 2 months).  I could see how quickly she was peeing through prefolds and some of our miscellaneous fitteds during the day. I knew that we could not rely on those to last all night long, and I couldn't handle so many late night changes. 

Even when I would change her out of her disposable in the morning, it was pretty much busting with pee.  Although we tried regular Goodmamas on our son (2 1/2 years) some nights, we had the best results with double stuffed pockets, but when I tried the same double stuffed pockets on my daughter, it just wasn't absorbent enough to hold all of her pee. 

I was even skeptical when we received our good.night-- there was really something that she could wear all night?  I wouldn't need to wake up and change her?  We wouldn't get diaper leaks or compression wicking under a wool cover? 

After one night in her good.night, I was instantly convinced-- it can be done!  I've tried the same diaper on my daughter (who is under 10 pounds) and my son (who is nearing 30 pounds), and I've had perfect results with both.  The diaper COULD last all night, even after 10 hours of wear.  Better yet, the front didn't even feel damp when I took it off in the morning. 

The diaper looks a lot more comfortable, too; both of my kids woke up without marks caused by snaps or bunched up fabric.  It's hard to believe that there is something out there that will work with both my son and daughter that will last them until they no longer need to wear diapers at night, but I'm now confident that there is.

Before using the goodmama night diaper, I admit I used pockets at night.  I love to use natural fabrics against London's skin, but he makes it his full-time job to nurse all night long.  This makes for soaking wet fitteds and not a peaceful, comfortable night of sleep.

After cloth diapering for more than a year, we've finally found a nighttime diapering solution with the goodmama performance we've come to trust and a luxe quality that helps our baby sleep more soundly. 

While we love the absorbency and fit of our traditional goodmama prints and velours, we've been looking for a snapless solution to help our belly sleeper enjoy a restful night. 

At one year old, he is still nursing through the night, so we also needed a diaper that would seamlessly form the contours of his chunky thighs and stand up to our heavy wetter.

We had high hopes for the new good.nite and must say that we were not disappointed.  We love the customizable fit of the diaper; the familiar shape is made nighttime friendly with the use of a Snappi rather than built-in snaps.

However, the incredibly soft bamboo fleece outer allows the Snappi to be fixed securely without the worry of an accidental unfastening--perfect for those knitted wool cover users who avoid Snappis for this reason. 

On the inside, the lay-in soaker is unlike any we've tried before.  The quilted bamboo velour topper lays flat against your baby's skin, providing a comfortable night's sleep.  As our son is a heavy wetter, I love how I can place the soaker and good.boost higher in the front where we need the most protection. 

Best of all, the whole system is created from undyed, organic bamboo materials.  I love the security of knowing that the longest wearing diaper in my son's stash is made from the highest quality luxe fabrics.
